Australian Saxophone Quartet

The Australian Saxophone Quartet (ASxQ) combines four of Australia’s leading saxophonists. Creating, reviving, and promoting Australian music both at home and abroad, the musical palette of the group ranges from classical music through to new and experimental music.

The group aims to engage artists and musicians from a multicultural Australian community through innovative musical and cultural partnerships. Each of the musicians has created a career in Australia & abroad, with members graduates of the Paris Conservatoire, Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Versailles Conservatoire, Strasbourg Conservatoire, Bordeaux Conservatoire, & the University of Iowa.

The first rehearsals as a quartet with Joseph, Joshua & Yo-yo took place in 2006 during their time at the University of Melbourne & the VCA. In 2022 after a (very) long hiatus, the Australian Saxophone Quartet reassembled, welcoming Mary Osborn to the group. In 2023, they presented their first project, Echo Chamber: a series of contemporary works by renowned Australian composers Liza Lim, Mary Finsterer, Samantha Wolf, and Cat Hope. Echo Chamber was their first album and was presented in multiple live concerts throughout Thailand, Melbourne, and Sydney.
